Life is fickle.

It is just unimaginable how fickle life is. We could be here today and gone tomorrow.

A few weeks ago I received a message. The one that you read twice to make sure you have read it correctly. We are all the same – university friends, live locally, grumbles about the laundry and the chores, went for walks in the park. I still struggle to comprehend this has happened.

Its has made me even more passionate about telling anyone who will listen that everyone needs listening skills and if you want to be further armed then come along to our Beyond Blue training course.

What words describe anxiety? Agitation, apprehension, anxiousness

What words describe depression? Despair, desperation, hopelessness, self- despair, black dog

What words describe suicide? Died by suicide, suicidal thoughts, suicidal ideation

We have a training course, we could have called it ‘Responding to’ and it does what it says on the tin, but we decided to call is Beyond Blue. Why?

Because we spend our time considering what is Beyond this, for the caller? How best can we (those responding to a person) equip ourselves to use our active listening skills, to ask for more details and then what can we do to assist the caller.

It is a challenging, thought-provoking day that hopefully leaves you feeling more confident.
